Badlands Tank Lines Seeking a full-time experienced Lead Diesel Mechanic to support our Alexander, ND shop. 2024 Military Friendly Employer and a Military Spouse Friendly Employer.

Hourly pay rate is directly related to the amount of industry experience and specific job.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of Diesel Mechanics:

  • Assign repairs needed, and PMs to techs
  • Review and perform quality inspections of completed PMs and repairs. (Monthly PM reviews to be used as training and not reprimand)
  • Inspect, observe, and insists all techs work in a safe manner
  • Perform repairs as needed
  • Inspect all trucks and trailers as needed
  • Prepare and complete all related inspections as required
  • Monitor Mechanics hours
  • Collaborate with other Shop Supervisors on company equipment moves
  • Accurately diagnose and troubleshoot truck and trailer repairs and service
  • Keep tech productivity above 80%
  • Keep all lead techs up to date on Out of service equipment (All shifts)
  • Lead a team of mechanics to assure work is being recorded/completed properly
  • Assure DOT legal units are fielded
  • Use safe working practices and follow all company safety requirements.
  • Motivate, mentor and train all shift personnel
  • Communicate effectively with regional manager and Operations manager on a regular basis
  • Ability to respond to all on-call requests made after normal business hours.
  • Ability to work outside in the elements for the duration of the shift
  • Keep shop area neat and organized

Diesel Technician Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in DOT service/repair.
  • Must provide own hand tools that are adequate to perform repairs.
  • Must have a driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the position.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task while maintaining composure and professionalism.
  • Excellent organization skills.
  • Subject to DOT required background checks as needed.

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree [GED].
  • Prior experience with crude trailers a plus.
  • 3+ years of experience in DOT service/repair.

Requirements:

  • Be physically able to perform all duties needed
  • Have good communications needed
  • Able to delegate jobs as needed to keep equipment on the road
  • Work minimum of 50 hours per week
  • Be mechanically inclined to perform other duties needed
  • Must have Word, Excel, and Outlook experience
